FAQ

DO YOU TAKE HEALTH INSURANCE?

No, unfortunately I do not accept health insurance or Medicare and I cannot assure you that any of my services (office visits, phone consultations or lab tests) will be reimbursed. This was a difficult decision to make, but at this time wellness based preventative care is not adequately supported by managed care.

I will not file insurance paperwork on your behalf. However, I can provide you with a detailed statement (Superbill) that contains diagnosis and procedure codes to assist you with possible insurance reimbursement. If you have an insurance plan, health savings account (HSA) or Flex spending account that accepts "out-of-network" providers you should be able to submit the Superbill for partial reimbursement.

IS DR. SOLANO A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN?

No, while I initially trained and practiced as a Primary Care Family Medicine Physician, I do not provide primary or acute care services. I will work with you closely as a health consultant and coach in preventive, nutritional and Functional Medicine to help you address the root causes of your health problems. I will gladly confer with your primary care doctor if necessary.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO SEE RESULTS?

While I would love to give you a definitive answer, it really depends on several factors, including the complexity of your condition, how long you’ve been struggling with it, how much time, energy and attention you’re willing to devote to treatment, and how well you respond to your treatment plan. In general, my treatment plans last between 6 to 12 months, but most patients start seeing improvement within the first few months.

DOES DR. SOLANO EVER PRESCRIBE PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS?

Yes. While I focus primarily on natural remedies, as a fully licensed physician I can and do prescribe prescription medications whenever necessary. And when indicated, I can also help wean patients off prescription medications they are currently taking.

HOW MUCH WILL MY TREATMENT COST?

This depends on several factors, including the complexity of your condition, the extent of lab testing required, the combination of supplements, herbs and other therapies needed during treatment, and how long your treatment plan lasts. For more information on my pricing click here.

It is important to maintain an active credit card on file with my office for billing of follow-up consultations, laboratory testing, and other services. Payment is expected at the time of service.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT?

Prior to your initial appointment, you will be asked to complete several health questionnaires. When you come to the office for your initial appointment, please bring all your vitamins and prescription medications in their original containers if possible. Your old medical records and laboratory tests are also very helpful.
